But I don't know what to do when it comes to smoking. I can smell cigarette smoke from a great distance and it makes me sick! And then, when somebody smokes near my children, the children stink of cigarette smoke, so I can't hug them without having a coughing fit. As for the health issues associated with smoking, well, that's even another argument for banning smoking near children. I am usually not that militant when it comes to parenting decisions, but I am all on favor of a smoking ban.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14111500114926985493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-52840427672356928942013-01-31T10:47:16.777+01:002013-01-31T10:47:16.777+01:00Children can get harmed by second hand smoke, we s...Children can get harmed by second hand smoke, we should be responsible enough in this manner and try not to smoke when kids are around.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18054959621286605464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-8417034929001407332013-01-29T14:27:40.806+01:002013-01-29T14:27:40.806+01:00Well if parents are smokers they can't stop th...Well if parents are smokers they can't stop their children from doing that, environment counts a lot in child growth, kids usually adopt things from their elders.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07525181303380530162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-85652077506115374572012-10-03T08:08:53.295+02:002012-10-03T08:08:53.295+02:00Thanks for the link Rita, most interesting! Thanks for the link Rita, most interesting!LaToya Vanderblinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11428756563508298503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-50927178477923093522012-09-25T20:13:10.716+02:002012-09-25T20:13:10.716+02:00Nobody has smoked a ciggie near children in Austra...Nobody has smoked a ciggie near children in Australia since about 1983! I see Dutch (and some expat mamas) having a relaxing fag with friends while their kids play and just think, well, it's Europe... I can see both sides though, the second hand-smoke and bad example could be good reasons for saving your smoke till after the kids are tucked in bed. - Emma: http://thisamsterdamday.blogspot.nl/This Amsterdam Dayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16345845081078674548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-41273369224086844582012-09-21T14:36:10.212+02:002012-09-21T14:36:10.212+02:00Thanks for this Rita - certainly some interesting ...Thanks for this Rita - certainly some interesting reading to catch up on.Amanda van Mulligenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17328016562973171711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6798372697599428727.post-19344795056252471432012-09-21T14:35:28.548+02:002012-09-21T14:35:28.548+02:00What a strange reaction and I can imagine it puts ...What a strange reaction and I can imagine it puts you off trying to reason with someone again. In my birth country, Hungary, smoking (even when pregnant) is far more prevalent than in the UK, but nobody would light up at a playground! Here in NL I am very much bothered by the smoke but do not dare to confront anyone now...

The most shocking research I have ever read is wherever they banned smoking in closed public spaces, the number of spontaneous miscarriages IN NON-SMOKING WOMEN dropped drastically shortly afterwards. Something to consider... RNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11284077309272328142noreply@blogger.com
