I don't think that part of the story is debatable. However, whenever you take a children's tradition and change it very notably then there is a need for explanation that children understand. I am very happy to say that on a personal level if I explained what is happening around Zwarte Piet in Dutch society to my own children they would be baffled simply because they do not see their black classmates as 'Zwarte Piet' - that is what I mean with seeing this through children's eyes. I think, and I hope, my children are in the majority. The fact that there is a minority is part of the reason there is a drive for change. Again, as I already stated I don't think the fact change is coming that is up for debate.
